Scene kids

scene kids

Scene kids huh? Aren't they just the same as Emo?

Even though that title was just an opener, i guarantee it would of annoyed some people.

scene kidSeparating the culture of Scene from Emo is one of those things you don't really notice that much unless you are one or the other, and pretty much everyone in the Scene culture has been called an Emo at some point.

But to be fair though is there really that much of a difference? Well yes is the answer. Since the introduction of the Scene culture a few years ago the number of scene kids has exploded with new styles and definitions popping up all over the place.

By the way, if you have a creative or interesting argument for the difference between Scene and Emo or just want to have your 2 cents, then fill in the form at the bottom of the page and the best comments will appear on this page.

One of the most common answers for the difference between the two cultures doesn't involve the fashion, but more of an emotional difference. I've heard many people say that within the Emo culture one of its defining attributes is the expression of emotional experiences, normally negative. The expression of someone's pain is portrayed in the music they listen to, their emotional stability and to an extent, their cloths.

Again, the form at the bottom if you disagree

But for Scene kids this is very different, People of the scene culture tend to be more perky and generally less focused on emotional torment and more interested in having fun. High levels of confidence are another typical feature of Scene kids and of course, the fashion sense is different.

Scene kids tend to wear more flashy colours than Emo kids do, and are always on the look out for a way to appear more unique within their culture. Also more labels are deemed acceptable to wear in this culture, Especially Emo kids don't wear certain brands purely because, well, there not classed as Emo, so people don't wear them.

Important tips

  • Be yourself
  • There really is only one major "must do" for being Scene, and thats simply to just be yourself. Everyone is different and with the colourful and diverse aspects of scene fashion, this gives lots of opportunity to express your own personal style. You have to do things because "you" like them, and not to just be classed as something.

I've said it so many times on this site so one more cant hurt. The whole point in Dark styles is to inspire you to come up with your own unique style that's really you. There's loads of pictures and ideas on all kinds of things here, so go have a look-see.

  • Dont take Scene to seriously
  • What i mean by this is its very important not to get "sucked in" to this culture to much, there are so many poser's and arrogant people out there and no matter what they think of themselves, others they meet will probably think "what a t**t". Just don't change who you are because you think your not "scene" enough, its a big mistake.

  • Dont become Scene in a day
  • Its not natural for someone to just change so much overnight, also people will class you as a poser if you suddenly turn up one day looking like someone else. Only, and i mean only become a member of this culture if its what you want to do, if there's lots about it YOU personally like.

  • Dont tell people what they want to hear
  • Meaning if someone else says "i really like that band" and you've never heard of them before, don't just say you like them to just to fit in. Things like this are almost always discovered for the lies they are and then you just look stupid.

  • Dont dye your hair to much
  • Dyeing hair damages it, doing so occasionally is ok as your hair has time to repair itself, but if your bleaching and dyeing it once a week, your going to notice the damage, guaranteed.

  • Dont get too skinny
  • Alot of people will probably scowl at this one. As im sure you've noticed, most scene pictures are of rather skinny people, it seems to be the average body size for this culture. Of course there's nothing wrong being thin but don't over do it, only get as thin as your comfortable with without turning it into some kind of health risk.

  • Get ready to be hated
  • Thats right, people will hate you for the way you dress. Not always of course but theres so many common as dirt people out there who get scared and confused if someone isn't wearing a plain "fruit of the loom" t-shirt or something from the gap. Im sure you've already had people frown or call you something, but its important to remember they only do this because their jealous that other people have the guts to look how they want to, they also make fun because their still angry after getting dumped by their first and only partner in the second year of primary school.

Ok then, if you have a creative or interesting comment on Scene kids, or you just wanna have a rant about something you disagree with, then this is the form your after below
